LOOPS MISSION STATEMENT
LOOPS (Loved Ones of Prisoners) is a Christ centered organization dedicated to presenting the gospel of Jesus Christ to prison inmates, ex-inmates, their families and loved ones.
LOOPS sole purpose is “Mending broken hearts through Jesus Christ, our Lord” by application of God’s word to physical, mental, social, and spiritual problems (Luke 2:52)
Pray for our nation, our President, our state and local leaders, and all citizens. Pray for the nation of Israel. Pray for the suffering folks of Ukraine and the families that lost children and teachers in areas all over our nation.
Continue to pray for the REC-Room (Re-Entry Chapel) as we have services every Thursday night at Tabernacle Baptist Church here in Odessa. We started the Rec-Room in March 2003; we are starting our 21st year! We had fifty-nine (59) people accept Christ as their Saviour last year! So far this year we have had 36 people accept Christ as their personal Saviour. Thank you, Lord!
Lord, we pray for all those traveling this summer. Keep them safe until they arrive back at home.
Pray for Jennie’s Aunt Paula in Dallas; she has had a stroke and is now in assisted living. Also please pray for her daughter, Susan’s husband Brent. He has been diagnosed with esophageal cancer and is still having some issues.
Pray for cousin, Tom Andrews, and his wife Bonnie. Tom has salivary gland cancer and bone cancer in his jawbone. He is having all sorts of terrible issues. Pray that the Lord will take him home before the tumors suffocate him.
Pray for board member Rick Connell and his wife, Sandra. Sandra has been having a lot of trouble with back and neck pain. She has had several procedures and is waiting to have another one. Rick is one of our speakers at the REC-Room and was diagnosed with COPD a couple of years ago. It has gotten much worse, and he had to quit his job and is now on oxygen full time. Rick is doing some better and they are able to join us at the REC-Room some of the time. We pray that they will soon be able to be back with us at the REC-Room. They are sorely missed and needed!
Pray for board member C.E. Vaughan and his wife, Gayle. C. E. has recently been diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis. They have had numerous appointments at Southwestern in Dallas. Gayle was recently declared cancer free for five years! Thank you, Lord! Even in large cities it seems to take forever to get in to see a specialist. C. E. has developed some other issues with his liver, has an enlarged spleen and has damaged his vocal cords due to the incessant coughing. Pray that they will get some answers soon! Please pray, pray, pray for some answers and solutions.
Pray for good friend and board member, Dan Pearson. He has macular degeneration and was recently diagnosed with asthmatic COPD. Pray also for Dan’s wife, Mary Lee. She has been having some health issues. Dan has been pulling the newsletter together for me and has for the last 32 years!
Please pray for me, Linda Maples, I am doing better. I had a procedure on my knee to kill some of the nerves and it seems to be working. Thank you, Lord! Still have some issues with my back, but I am still moving and that’s the main thing! It has been a bit of a challenge, but I know that the Lord has me in His hands and isn’t through with me or LOOPS.
Pray for good friends Jack and Delores, Jack is doing better after gall-bladder surgery. Delores is getting injections in her back and neck and feeling some better. Delores has played the piano for the REC-Room almost since we started and she always plays for our church, Tabernacle Baptist Church. We need her and Jack both!
Pray for Carolyn and Odie and some of their family. Pray for daughter-in-law Connie, she is going through chemo and radiation. Pray for great-granddaughter Mackenzie, she has Rett’s disease and is not doing well. Pray for friends Helen and Terrell McBee; she has recently been diagnosed with brain cancer.
Pray for friend, Donna. She is having extreme pain in her neck and back. She recently had new scans done; pray they can find some answers for her.
Pray for my sister, Connie. She is recovering from a bad fall and trying to build up her strength from long covid... Pray for comfort and healing.
Continue to pray for Vearl and Sandy, he has leukemia, and she is having some serious health issues and is in assisted living.
Pray for members of the Borron/Morgan families. Many of them have a rare kidney disease and/or liver issues.
Continue to pray for good friend and board member Robert Lambert. He is still having some health problems and trying to get some of his strength back.
Continue to pray for the REC-Room. Pray for all three half-way houses here in Odessa and all those in jail. We pick up two of the halfway houses now and bring them to the REC-Room meeting. Idlewood halfway house is now coming also. Pray for all those that work in these facilities, they are truly special folks. We have seen fifty-nine (59) men and women accept Christ last year and 36 so far this year. I thank the Lord every day for all our faithful volunteers.
Pray for our church that we may remain focused on the Lord Jesus Christ, the salvation of the lost and faithfulness of all of us. Pray too for our Sunday School classes. Pray that we can find a song leader and relieve Mark of doing double and triple duty. Thank you, Lord, for the growth we are experiencing.
Pray for all our men and women serving in the armed forces. Keep them safe until they come home.
Pray for all our first responders, police, firemen and EMT’s. Pray for protection for our doctors and nurses and additional hospital staff that continue to work tirelessly.
We would gladly add your request for prayer to our list. Send us your request and it will be added and prayed for faithfully. Thank you!
You do not have to be incarcerated to take one of our Bible correspondence courses. They are offered free of charge to everyone.
We send you four lessons at a time. When you complete all four, you return them to us; they are graded and returned to you with the next four in that study.
The study we recommend you take first is called “Keys to Bible Study” and has 12 lessons. The others vary in length with the longest one being “Biblical Truth and How to Find It” with 85 lessons.
Please write your name on each page of your correspondence course lessons and put your name and address on the envelope. Sometimes the envelopes become detached; if you are missing a set of lessons, please contact us. Please do not write letters on your correspondence courses, our graders do not have time to answer them.
Here is a way to order these online:
Click here to order your Personal Correspondence.
Click here to order your Inmate Correspondence.
Now if you want to order these offline, please PRINT your name, ID number and address very carefully.

In March of 2003 we began a weekly meeting we called the REC-Room (REC meaning Re-Entry Chapel.) Through the LOOPS in-prison seminars we learned that many people who became Christians in prison were prone to return to the old life after being released. Since most of the new Christians were not from church backgrounds, they had no idea of what to look for in a church.
With the help of some ex-inmates we started a weekly meeting that was to be a bridge to local churches. The meeting consists of refreshments, music, a speaker and fellowship. Along with presenting the gospel, we worked at finding employment opportunities, vocational training, transportation and financial assistance.
Northside Bible Church in Oklahoma City asked us to tape these programs and they are now placing them on their website, RightDivision.com. You can find the programs under the Leland Maples Video/Audio Lessons link:
