I am currently incarcerated in the Ector County Law Enforcement Center. My aunt asked Brother Leland to check on me and he did a few days later.

I had a nice long talk with him that day and a few times since. I have been saved about 16 years and never quite understood the scripture about “iron sharpens iron” until I met Leland. He was a big blessing.

There is a song that I heard in my home church called “Thank you for giving to the Lord.” It makes me think of Bro. Leland. I believe our Father has welcomed Leland with open arms and he will have many crowns to lay at the Master’s feet. He will hear the words, “Well done thou good and faithful servant.”

Thank you for sharing him with all of us, allowing him through his ministry to seek out the lost sheep and guide them back to the flock. My prayers are with you always, May the love of our Lord surround you at this time and always. God bless you all.

Your brother in Christ,

T. S., Inmate
Ector Co. Law Enforcement Center

I wish to express to you my sorrow for the loss of Leland, and my joy over the end of his suffering and a bountiful entrance into the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ, whom he loved and served for much of his life.

I really appreciated the stand he took for the absolute authority of the King James 1611 Bible. This is the only Bible I’ve used for many years now. The 16th of next month marks the beginning of my 37th year in the Florida prison system. But for the grace of God, I truly don’t believe I could have survived it. But as you know, with His grace all things are possible! May our Lord Jesus continue to bless you. Yours in Christ Jesus,

J. C., Inmate
Bushnell, Florida

REC-ROOM MESSAGES ON THE INTERNET

In 2003 we began a weekly meeting we called the REC-Room (REC meaning Re-Entry Chapel.) Through the LOOPS in-prison seminars we learned that many people who became Christians in prison were prone to return to the old life after being released. Since most of the new Christians were not from church backgrounds, they had no idea of what to look for in a church.

With the help of some ex-inmates we started a weekly meeting that was to be a bridge to local churches. The meeting consists of refreshments, music, a speaker and fellowship. Along with presenting the gospel, we worked at finding employment opportunities, vocational training, transportation and financial assistance.

Northside Bible Church in Oklahoma City asked us to tape these programs and they are now placing them on their website, RightDivision.com. You can find the programs under the Leland Maples Audio Lessons link:
